Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nobero Shimasaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Myles Newell! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimasaki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Newell wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Newell throws a hook but Shimasaki blocks it. The fight stays on the outside here - Shimasaki looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shimasaki throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Newell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shimasaki walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Shimasaki checks a leg kick. Shimasaki cracks the inside of Newell's front leg. Shimasaki shoots in but Newell avoids the takedown attempt easily. Shimasaki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Newell jabs at Shimasaki's body. Newell just misses with a punch to the body.
No joy there for Newell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round. Newell swings for the body but Shimasaki moves out of range.
Shimasaki walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Newell checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Shimasaki dodges the punch combination from Newell.
Shimasaki fails in his attempt to clinch. Shimasaki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Shimasaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Newell has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Shimasaki. We've been informed that Newell has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Newell misses with a body shot.
Shimasaki is looking to counter the offense by Newell and move into the clinch. Newell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shimasaki was well out of range. Poor timing from Newell. Shimasaki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Newell. Shimasaki is looking to chop away at Newell's legs. Newell misses with a looping right. Newell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shimasaki takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Newell swats away the attempt to clinch by Shimasaki. Shimasaki is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Shimasaki or perhaps it was just good defense by Newell, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nobero Shimasaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shimasaki tries to clinch up but Newell circles away and keeps his distance. Shimasaki checks a low kick from Newell. Shimasaki moves into the clinch. Newell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shimasaki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Shimasaki tried to counter with a leg kick but Newell avoided it. Shimasaki wants to clinch up but Newell keeps it at a distance. Newell scores with a nice strike. Newell throws a body kick that misses. Shimasaki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Newell. An attempted straight right counter from Shimasaki misses the target. Newell misses with a two punch combination.
Shimasaki plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Shimasaki throws a head kick that misses. Shimasaki keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Newell. Newell connects with the punch. Shimasaki tries a head kick but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newell with a jab. Newell swats away the attempt to clinch by Shimasaki. Shimasaki keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Newell jabbing away but nothing is landing. Newell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shimasaki tries for a takedown but Newell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Shimasaki's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Newell connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shimasaki scrambles back to his feet. Shimasaki shoots in for a double leg but Newell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Newell on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shimasaki. Shimasaki obviously looking to wear him down.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Shimasaki slips under a jab from Newell. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Shimasaki - that will leave a mark!
Shimasaki thuds his shin into the meat of Newell's side. A swing and a miss from Shimasaki. Shimasaki goes for a double leg but Newell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Newell continues to drive forward. Shimasaki forces Newell back against the cage and clinches. This has been an exciting period of action! Shimasaki breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shimasaki is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Shimasaki ducks under a wild hook from Newell. Newell keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Shimasaki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Shimasaki moves in looking to clinch but Newell pushes him off. Newell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Shimasaki throws a head kick that misses. Newell keeps the fight on the outside. Newell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shimasaki's guard. Newell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Newell working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shimasaki's head. Shimasaki has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Shimasaki has momentary wrist control but Newell slips an elbow through the middle. Newell is looking to work some ground and pound but Shimasaki has wrist control. Shimasaki avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Myles Newell dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Shimasaki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A head kick misses from Shimasaki. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shimasaki. Shimasaki scores with a push kick. Shimasaki ducks right into an uppercut from Newell. Newell has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Newell misses the shot to the body. Newell tries to keep at a distance but Shimasaki has taken the fight into the clinch. Shimasaki is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Newell. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Shimasaki just misses with a elbow thrown towards Newell's brow. Shimasaki tries to pull guard but Newell won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimasaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A big left from Newell misses. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sloppy strikes from Newell. Those never looked like landing. Shimasaki shoots for a takedown but Newell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nobero Shimasaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Newell cracks Shimasaki with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Newell throws a solid leg kick but Shimasaki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Newell. Shimasaki shoots for a double leg takedown but Newell sprawls well. He's pushed Shimasaki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Newell tries a low kick but Shimasaki avoids it. A cross from Newell lands. Newell feints and as Shimasaki raises his hands in defense, Newell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Newell trying to control the position from guard on top but Shimasaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shimasaki has momentary wrist control but Newell slips an elbow through the middle. Newell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Newell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Newell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Newell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Shimasaki is rocked! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Newell's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Oh Shimasaki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Newell postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Shimasaki covers up, he's hurt! Newell keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Newell and the ref steps in to end the fight! Newell can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Myles Newell! Jumping up and down and very excited, Myles Newell waved his t-shirt featuring Arcticus University: London's logo in front of the cameras. In defeat, Nobero Shimasaki stepped up to the mic, saying 'Team Goroshi - Kore Fight Nutrition - Dudes Gym'.
