Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimasaki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Newell wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Newell throws a hook but Shimasaki blocks it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shimasaki looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've been informed that Newell has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Oh Shimasaki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Newell postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Shimasaki covers up, he's hurt! Newell keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Newell and the ref steps in to end the fight! Newell can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
