Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Detangelo Harmeski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Don Killumanti! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Killumanti misses with a body shot.
Harmeski throws a head kick but Killumanti moves out of range.
Killumanti looks to clinch and Harmeski counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Killumanti thinking. Harmeski misses with a takedown attempt and Killumanti counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Harmeski on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Harmeski throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Killumanti counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Harmeski with a lazy takedown attempt and Killumanti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Harmeski is rocked! Nice shot by Killumanti. Oh Harmeski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Harmeski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Killumanti counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Detangelo Harmeski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harmeski shoots in looking for a takedown. Killumanti tries to sprawl out of it but Harmeski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Killumanti manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Harmeski seems to have got his legs back now. Killumanti ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Killumanti cracks Harmeski with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Harmeski looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Killumanti finish him?
Killumanti scores with a shot to the body.
Harmeski is breathing heavily. Harmeski swings away with a body shot that misses
and Killumanti counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Killumanti connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Killumanti has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Harmeski is defended easily by Killumanti. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Killumanti circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Harmeski to the canvas! Harmeski doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Killumanti keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Don Killumanti! In his post fight interview, Don Killumanti started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
