Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryan Pena! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Skank Pier! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skank Pier displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pena. As Pena backs off Skank Pier throws a huge counter combo but Pena manages to avoid it all. Skank Pier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Skank Pier won't allow Pena to get back to his feet. Skank Pier working some strikes from top position. Pena is adopting a defensive guard. Pena keeping moving, preventing Skank Pier from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skank Pier trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Skank Pier keeps trying to improve his position. Skank Pier content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skank Pier prevents Pena from getting back to his feet. Skank Pier tries to free his leg and advance position but Pena is retaining full guard. Pena not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pena tries to land a sweep but no joy. Skank Pier trying to control the position from guard on top but Pena is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pena tries for a takedown but Skank Pier sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Skank Pier changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Pena misses with a takedown and Skank Pier counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryan Pena. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pena is looking to break free of the clinch but Skank Pier has double underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pena is pressed up against the cage. Skank Pier has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pena down to the mat. Pena avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Pena has his takedown stuffed and Skank Pier counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Skank Pier. Pena swings wildly with an uppercut but Skank Pier uses good head movement to avoid it. Pena prevents the takedown attempt.
Pena has had enough of the clinch but Skank Pier keeps him there for the moment. Skank Pier is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pena is defending well. Skank Pier keeps control of Pena as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Skank Pier has picked Pena up - he's going for a ride! Skank Pier dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Pena keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Skank Pier thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pena's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pena tries to kick Skank Pier off but Skank Pier keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Skank Pier throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Pena to regain full guard. Pena working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Skank Pier. Pena wants to stand and escape but Skank Pier is having none of it. Pena is breathing heavily. Skank Pier wants to control from the top but Pena keeps moving. Skank Pier throwing strikes but missing. Skank Pier prevents Pena from getting back to his feet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Skank Pier slaps away a takedown attempt from Pena, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pena shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Skank Pier defends it nicely. Skank Pier tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Skank Pier stuffs the takedown attempt from Pena. Pena gets slowly back to his feet. Skank Pier gets the takedown into side control. Pena is looking to reverse the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Skank Pier working the head and body with strikes. Skank Pier stands up. Pena misses with a takedown and Skank Pier counters with a single leg into guard. Pena didn't expect that. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Skank Pier dominated that round. That's time! Pena's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Skank Pier shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pena is trying to defend but Skank Pier finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Skank Pier missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Skank Pier throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Pena to regain full guard. Skank Pier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pena swivels though and keeps the full guard. Skank Pier gets to his feet - Pena follows without any prompting. Skank Pier shoots in and bounces Pena off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Pena will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skank Pier wants to pass the guard but Pena is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skank Pier pushing down on Pena's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Skank Pier is trying to control. Pena wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Pena moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Pena wants to get back to his feet but Skank Pier is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Skank Pier works a leg free and moves into half guard. Skank Pier passes the guard and advances to mount! Skank Pier dominating with strikes here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skank Pier landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Skank Pier cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
George Skank Pier has got the better of the ground game so far. Skank Pier drops a big elbow. That's hurt Pena! More shots from Skank Pier and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
