Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ray Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis comes to the cage accompanied by Nelly - Hot In Herre. Alves has chosen Rob Zombie - Scum of the earth as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fernando Alves is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Alves!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves misses with an uppercut.
Lewis throws a front kick aimed at Alves's knee but Alves avoids it well.
Alves keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lewis.
Lewis checks a leg kick.
Alves looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Lewis misses with a low kick.
Lewis motions for Alves to come forward. Lewis throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Alves looks for the body kick but Lewis saw that one coming.
Lewis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lewis lands with an uppercut that bounces Alves off the cage and back into range.
Alves throws a chopping leg kick but Lewis manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lewis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Alves will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Alves is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lewis.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.
Alves drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lewis defends it well.
Nice defenses there by Alves.
Alves cracks Lewis with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Lewis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alves.

Lewis throws a front kick aimed at Alves's knee but Alves avoids it well.

Alves thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Lewis if he has to take too many more of those.

Alves ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Alves thuds a left hand into Lewis's body.
Alves throws a hook but Lewis blocks it.
Lewis just misses with a punch to the body.
Alves lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Lewis walks into a stiff left hand from Alves.
Lewis cracks a nice hook into Alves's ribs.

Lewis has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.

Lewis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fernando Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lewis is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Alves swings for the body but Lewis moves out of range.
Alves gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Lewis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alves fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lewis manages to avoid it.
Alves cracks Lewis with an open hand slap.
Lewis loads up on a big right hand but Alves slips the punch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ray Lewis will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Alves wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Lewis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alves with the counter takedown but Lewis avoids it easily.
Lewis throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.
Alves does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Alves has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Lewis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Lewis throws a hook to the side of Alves's head but Alves sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Alves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ray Lewis will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Alves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lewis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alves wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Alves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lewis has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves working away.
Lewis is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Alves just content to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Lewis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alves does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Fernando Alves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lewis moves nicely into side control.
Alves tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lewis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Alves parries the strikes from Lewis easily there. Lewis is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Alves to escape.

Lewis wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.
Lewis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Alves tries to buck Lewis off but Lewis is having none of it.
Alves gets back to half guard.
Lewis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Alves!
Alves is desperately trying to improve his position but Lewis has a good base and remains in mount.

Alves is wriggling around trying to escape.
Alves is in a horrible position here. Lewis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ray Lewis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lewis wants to control the pace but Alves is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lewis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
