Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jarik Belson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Pen! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Belson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Pen misses with a series of wild punches.
Belson throws a jab when Pen was well out of range. Nice straight punches there by Belson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Belson. Belson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Pen lands a nice shot to the body.
Belson looks to land a left hand but Pen moved out of range nicely. Belson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Belson lands a head shot. Belson throws a big shot that misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pen! But no joy. Belson throws a body shot but no joy. Belson connects with a jab. Pen with a jab. This has been an exciting period of action! Belson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Pen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Jarik Belson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belson with a hook. Pen rushes Belson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Belson tries for a takedown but Pen manages to get underhooks.
Belson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Belson working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Pen lands with a light punch inside. Belson throws a head punch that misses. Belson tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarik Belson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pen prevents the takedown attempt.

Belson gets through Pen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Belson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Belson misses with a short punch on the inside. Pen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Pen slips under a jab from Belson. Belson missing with a left hand there. Pen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. It looks like Belson has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pen rushes Belson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pen blocking some punches.
Pen digs a right hand into Belson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Belson's gas tank. Pen misses with a punch on the inside.
Belson is trying to break the clinch but Pen has him pressed against the cage. Pen throws a punch but it's blocked by Belson. Belson looking for a takedown. Belson tries to pull guard but Pen forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Pen has Belson pressed against the cage, preventing Belson from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Pen throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Belson misses with a punch on the inside.
Pen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Pen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Belson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Pen's elbow. Belson tries to pull guard but Pen holds him up against the cage and eventually Belson drops back down to his feet.
Pen lands an elbow inside that Belson shrugs off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pen utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Belson is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Belson tries to score a body lock takedown but Pen shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Pen has a couple of punches blocked by Belson.

Pen lands a body shot in the clinch.
Belson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Pen is keeping busy. Belson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Belson lands with a short head shot on the inside. Knees to the body from Pen.
Pen lands with a left to the head. Pen pushes Belson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Pen blocks a body shot from Belson. A body shot lands from Pen.

Belson is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Belson takes an elbow to the temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pen gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Belson goes for a takedown attempt but Pen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Belson. Belson misses the jab. Pen cracks Belson with a hook to the temple - Belson is on wobbly legs here! Pen swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Belson falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Pen wins by TKO!
