Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pookie Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kreb Barishkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Ride The Train. Barishkov has chosen Seek and Destroy as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kreb Barishkov! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
It looks like Pookie Jackson has been cut. Barishkov has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jackson is landing a low percentage of strikes. Barishkov throws a series of punches but Jackson avoids them all with ease. Jackson lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Kreb Barishkov has been cut. Barishkov lands a jab to Jackson's midsection. Barishkov lands a glancing blow to the side of Jackson's head. Jackson attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Barishkov misses with a hook. Barishkov throws a sloppy head kick and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Barishkov ducks under a wild hook from Jackson. Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice cross by Jackson. Jackson takes one to the side of the head.
Jackson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Jackson connects with a high kick. Jackson misses with a body kick. Jackson clinches up against the cage. Barishkov working aggressively here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Jackson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jackson gets through Barishkov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Barishkov working hard to break the clinch. Jackson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've been hearing reports that Jackson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Barishkov breaks from the clinch.
Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barishkov counters with a lovely straight right hand! Barishkov bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jackson's head. Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Barishkov moves out of range easily. Barishkov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Barishkov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jackson. Barishkov throws a front kick aimed at Jackson's knee but Jackson avoids it well. Jackson misses with a head kick.
Barishkov takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Barishkov is looking to chop away at Jackson's legs. Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Barishkov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barishkov tries to land a leg kick but Jackson saw it coming and moves away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Good leg kick by Jackson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Barishkov moves out of range easily. Jackson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Barishkov. Jackson throws a hook to the side of Barishkov's head but Barishkov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A punch lands to the side of Jackson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Barishkov throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It looked like Jackson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Barishkov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jackson. As Barishkov tries to get set, Jackson tries to push him back and clinch up but Barishkov manages to avoid the attempt. Crack! A monster head kick from Jackson and Barishkov falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Jackson!
