The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Russell is trying to defend but Hawk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Russell punching from the bottom.
Russell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Russell tries to roll over but Hawk keeps him under control.
Hawk trying to control the action but Russell is working from the bottom.
Russell is trying to get back to full guard.
Russell is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Russell is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hawk jumps into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawk is working to tighten his grip on Russell's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Russell has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hawk is really squeezing tight and eventually Russell passes out! Hawk breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
