The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
The Kurgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Still in the clinch, Briggs scores with a nice short uppercut.

Briggs has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kurgan regains guard immediately.
Briggs slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Kurgan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Briggs slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Briggs creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Oh Kurgan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Briggs lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Kurgan to his knees! Briggs keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

An out of breath Jax Briggs thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
