Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Kurgan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jax Briggs! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Briggs scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. The Kurgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Briggs lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kurgan at a distance.
Briggs has taken the fight to the clinch.
A short right from Briggs on the inside. Kurgan misses with a body punch.
Kurgan throws a punch but it's blocked by Briggs. A short right from Briggs on the inside. Briggs lands with a short shot to the head. Briggs lands a body shot in the clinch.
Kurgan is breathing heavily. Briggs pushes Kurgan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Briggs lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Still in the clinch, Briggs scores with a nice short uppercut. Briggs has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kurgan regains guard immediately. Briggs slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kurgan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Briggs slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Kurgan trying to keep a closed guard but Briggs is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kurgan misses with a lunging right hand
and Briggs counters with a right hand to the body. Kurgan misses with a looping right. Briggs has Kurgan up against the cage in a clinch.

Briggs working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Briggs lands with a light punch inside. Briggs lands with a left to the head. Briggs works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Briggs throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Good body shot from Briggs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A short right from Briggs. Briggs lands with a right to the head. Briggs lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kurgan or not. Briggs lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kurgan backwards. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Briggs creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Briggs.
Kurgan is rocked! Briggs lands a body shot. Oh Kurgan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Briggs lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kurgan backwards. Briggs lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Kurgan to his knees! Briggs keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jax Briggs! An out of breath Jax Briggs thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. In defeat, The Kurgan stepped up to the mic, saying 'Another time, Highlander!'.
