Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Victor Doomsday! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tauno Palo! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palo lands with a nice body punch. Palo misses with a hook. Doomsday ducked under it nicely. Doomsday closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Doomsday lands in his opponent's guard. Doomsday trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doomsday wants to control from the top but Palo keeps moving. Palo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Palo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Palo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Palo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Palo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Doomsday manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Palo trying to control the position from guard on top but Doomsday is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Palo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Palo wants to control from the top but Doomsday keeps moving. Doomsday doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Palo showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Palo stands up and waves to Doomsday to follow him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Palo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Palo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Doomsday's calf. Palo wants to clinch. Doomsday walks into a jab.
It looks like Victor Doomsday has been cut. Doomsday chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Palo can pounce on him.
Doomsday is breathing heavily. Some wild striking there from Palo.
Doomsday shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palo as he avoids it easily. Palo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Palo drops Doomsday with a big left hand! Doomsday is injured, injured bad! Palo jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tauno Palo! Tauno Palo is the new middleweight champion!
