Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Eliseo Allen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Burks! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burks.
Chris Burks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Burks closes the distance and clinches. Burks lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Burks is trying to control the action in half guard but Allen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Burks is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Allen works his way to full guard. Good work. Allen keeping moving, preventing Burks from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burks postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burks stopping the sweep attempt from Allen.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Allen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burks to the mat! Burks manages to get full guard. Allen stands up from guard. Let's bang! Allen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Burks.
Burks shoots in and gets a takedown into Allen's guard. Burks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Allen's guard. Burks preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burks throws a strike but Allen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Allen scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Allen stands and steps away. Burks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Burks gets a takedown into half guard. Burks looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Allen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Burks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Burks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Burks is looking to take a break and control but Allen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Allen is trying to control Burks's posture but Burks avoids it. Allen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Burks is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Allen sneaks back into half guard. Allen is doing well to control the position and prevent Burks from advancing to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Allen has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Burks is on him like a limpet, forcing Allen back against the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Allen.
Allen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Burks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Allen dives in and grabs Burks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burks pushes down on Allen's head and hops out. Allen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Burks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Allen is in Burks's guard. Allen gets to his feet - Burks follows without any prompting. Burks drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Who's going to make the next move? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Eliseo Allen will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nice takedown defense from Burks. No joy for Allen on that attempt. Burks scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Burks working the strikes but Allen uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Burks trying to control from half guard but Allen is working away. Allen is looking for a sweep. Burks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Allen manages to get to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Burks won't allow Allen to sweep him here. Burks trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Allen manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Allen distracts Burks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Allen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Burks controls Allen momentarily but Allen frees himself. Allen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Allen drops back looking for a leg! Burks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burks manages to kick Allen off! Allen jumps back into Burks's guard. Allen stands up from guard. Let's bang! Burks drives through and clinches with Allen against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Burks throws a sloppy strike and Allen has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Burks is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Allen!
