Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Levi Mathis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, King Kong! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kong scores with a one two! Mathis had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Kong rushes Mathis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mathis pressing his opponent against the cage. Kong jumps into guard, dragging Mathis to the mat.
Mathis postures up.
Mathis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kong trying to control the position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathis wants to stand but Kong has a closed guard, so he can't escape. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kong holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mathis keeping moving, preventing Kong from controlling successfully. Mathis trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mathis is keeping the position for now. Mathis has his hands on Kong's head, controlling the position. Kong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mathis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kong wants to control from the top but Mathis keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Mathis misses with a takedown attempt - Kong sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kong unleashes a big counter combination but Mathis bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Mathis fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mathis is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kong manages to pull guard.

Mathis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mathis throwing strikes from guard but Kong blocks nicely. Kong looks winded! Mathis wants to stand but Kong has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kong is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathis throws a big right hand that misses. Kong is trying to control the position but Mathis postures up. Mathis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kong is proving hard to escape from.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mathis misses with a wild combination.
Mathis tries to sprawl but Kong drives through with a takedown into half guard. Kong seems to be looking for submissions.

Kong has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mathis defends it well. Kong stops Mathis from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mathis works his way to full guard. Good work. Mathis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mathis is on top in guard.
Mathis cracks Kong with a solid left hand. Mathis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mathis scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mathis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mathis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Mathis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kong was well out of range. Poor timing from Mathis. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mathis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kong did well to prevent Mathis getting side control. Mathis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kong tries to kick Mathis off but Mathis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathis wants to work for an arm triangle but Kong is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mathis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kong is just riding it out for now. Mathis eventually gives up the hold. Kong wants to control but Mathis is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mathis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kong's head.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kong shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mathis is trying to defend but Kong finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mathis keeps control of the position for the meantime. Mathis is looking to control Kong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mathis avoid being mounted? Mathis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mathis moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kong postures up in Mathis's guard and throws a big left but Mathis blocks it. Kong trying to control but Mathis is working from the bottom. Kong being controlled here momentarily. Kong is looking to advance position but Mathis has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Mathis wants to finish this one by submission but Kong is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mathis.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kong has worked his arm free - good work by Kong!
Mathis goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kong has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mathis but great work by Kong. Kong with the ground and pound but Mathis regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mathis wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to King Kong. I think Kong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
