Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Obworth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Hemmingworth and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Obworth quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Obworth sees it coming and defends easily.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Barnett working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Obworth is looking to control Barnett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Obworth avoid being mounted?

Barnett is working for a submission of some sort.

We've been hearing good reports from Obworth's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Obworth postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Barnett covers up, he's hurt! Obworth keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Obworth and the ref steps in to end the fight! Obworth can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
