PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerzy Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riggs has chosen Immortal Technique- The Cause of Death as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerzy Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Riggs!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Riggs wants to land a leg kick but Killer is out of range.
Killer throws a head kick but Riggs moves out of range.
Killer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Killer lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Riggs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Riggs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Killer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Riggs doesn't seem bothered though.
Some wild striking there from Riggs.
Riggs throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Killer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Riggs has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A slapping leg kick lands for Riggs.
Killer's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Riggs connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Killer scrambles back to his feet.
Killer lands a head kick. Riggs smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Killer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Riggs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Riggs looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Killer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Riggs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Killer feints and then cracks Riggs's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Riggs down.
Riggs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Killer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Killer is looking to land body kicks.
Riggs takes a jab right on the kisser.
Riggs swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Killer tries to bum rush Riggs with a series of wild strikes but Riggs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A combination from Killer does no damage.
Nice cross by Riggs.
Riggs paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Killer tests Riggs's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Killer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Riggs.
Riggs throws a leg kick but Killer sees it coming and moves out of range.
A head kick from Killer lands but Riggs takes it in his stride.
Riggs looks for the body kick but Killer saw that one coming.
Riggs attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Riggs changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Riggs ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jerzy Killer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Killer tries to clinch but Riggs is having none of it.
Killer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Riggs.
Riggs misses with a few strikes there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Riggs.
Killer throws a hook but Riggs avoids it easily.
Killer scores with a sloppy right hand. Riggs should have avoided that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Killer is looking to clinch but Riggs is avoiding it.
Killer misses with a wild combination.
Riggs is looking to chop away at Killer's legs.
Killer tries to close the distance and clinch but Riggs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Riggs takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Riggs connects with a crisp jab.
A jab from Riggs misses.
Killer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Riggs goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Killer moves out of range as Riggs throws a body kick.
Riggs feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Killer's calf.
Crunch! Riggs slams his shin into Killer's torso.
Killer misses with a double jab
and Riggs counters with a straight right hand.


Killer is rocked!
Riggs looks to throw the jab but Killer is out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Killer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Riggs eats them both and turns towards Killer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Riggs crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Killer - the referee stops the clock and Riggs gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Killer. Riggs manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Riggs misses with a head kick.
Killer checks a leg kick.
Killer with a nice cross.
Killer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Killer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Killer trying to land knees to the body.
Killer is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Riggs is defending well for now.

Riggs manages to break the clinch.
An inside leg kick lands from Riggs.
Riggs swats away the attempt to clinch by Killer.
Killer tries to close the distance and clinch but Riggs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Riggs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Killer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Killer throws a nice head kick!
Riggs misses with a low kick.

Killer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Riggs was well out of range. Poor timing from Killer.
Killer is looking to clinch.
Riggs is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Killer with a body shot.
Killer wants to clinch up but Riggs keeps it at a distance.
Riggs takes a swing at Killer's ribcage but misses.
Riggs looks to throw the jab but Killer is out of range.
Killer tries a head kick but it misses.
Killer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Riggs connects with an inside leg kick.
Killer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Riggs keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice body kick from Riggs.
Killer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Riggs.
Killer plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Riggs takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Killer lands a head kick. Riggs smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A punch lands to the side of Killer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Killer moves away from the strike by Riggs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jerzy Killer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Riggs moves out of range of the body kick.
Riggs thuds a left hand into Killer's body.
Killer wants to clinch up but Riggs keeps it at a distance.
Killer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Killer!
Riggs throws a right and a left that both miss.
Riggs fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Riggs, as that shot connected.
Killer throws a right and a left that Riggs avoids nicely.
Riggs is trying to counter with his kicks.
Riggs connects with a body shot.
Killer with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Riggs to score with a decent uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Killer tries to clinch up but Riggs circles away and keeps his distance.
Riggs rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Killer counters with a left and a right that stings Riggs.
Riggs fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Killer checks it well.
Killer throws a push kick but Riggs slaps the foot to one side.
Riggs fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Killer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Killer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riggs.

The fight stays on the outside here - Killer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice jab there from Riggs.
Killer tries to clinch but Riggs moves out of range.
Riggs tries a low kick but Killer avoids it.
Killer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Riggs lands a front kick.
Killer changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice shot lands for Riggs.
Riggs digs a good body shot into Killer's ribs.
Riggs is looking to score with low kicks.
Riggs cracks Killer with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Killer lands with a kick to the temple. Riggs shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Riggs blocks the elbow strike.
Our sources have told us that Killer has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Riggs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Killer misses with an elbow strike.

Riggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Riggs is looking to score with low kicks.
Killer is looking to counter punch.
Riggs moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Killer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riggs.
Jerzy Killer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Killer connects with a leg kick. Riggs looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Killer doesn't manage to clinch there - Riggs circles away.
Riggs wants to land a leg kick but Killer is out of range.
Killer tries to clinch but Riggs is having none of it.
Killer staying out of range there.
Riggs scores with a one two! Killer had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Oh Killer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Martin Riggs seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Killer scores with a jab to the head.
Riggs lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Killer closes the distance and clinches.
Killer utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

A battle for position here, against the cage.
Riggs softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Killer with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Riggs lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Killer backwards.

Riggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Killer throws a head kick that misses.
Killer is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Riggs keeps the fight on the outside.
Riggs lands with an uppercut that bounces Killer off the cage and back into range.
Riggs throws a right and a left that both miss.
Riggs is looking to chop away at Killer's legs.
Riggs throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Killer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Riggs throws a low kick but it's checked well by Killer.
A little feinted left hand from Killer on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Killer looks up at the clock. Bad move! Riggs lands a right hand from hell, dropping Killer. Riggs pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Martin Riggs!
An out of breath Martin Riggs thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
