Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jurgen Murgen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Sheppards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jurgen Murgen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Sheppards! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick lands from Murgen. Sheppards getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Sheppards throws out a powerful jab. Sheppards tries to bum rush Murgen with a series of wild strikes but Murgen uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Murgen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Sheppards fails with a takedown attempt. Sheppards moves out of range of the body kick from Murgen.
Sheppards has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A big right from Murgen misses. Nice body punch from Murgen. Sheppards manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Murgen on his heels. He'll look to pass Murgen's guard now, I'm sure. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Murgen has control of Sheppards's left arm, preventing Sheppards from doing any damage. Murgen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sheppards trying to control the position from guard on top but Murgen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sheppards loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheppards drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Murgen dives on top into guard. Sheppards working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Murgen. Sheppards is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Murgen has his hands clasped together around Sheppards's back. He's all about the action. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Sheppards wants to control but Murgen is keeping him busy. Sheppards has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Murgen trying to control but Sheppards postures up.
Murgen is looking for a sweep. Sheppards is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Murgen is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Sheppards seems content to control. Murgen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Murgen tries to get out of the position. Murgen moves into full guard.
Sheppards wants to control from the top but Murgen keeps moving. Murgen is pulling down on Sheppards's head to control his posture. Murgen is trying to keep Sheppards in close.
Sheppards looking to pass the guard. Sheppards postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Murgen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Sheppards to counter with a crisp jab. Murgen is looking to chop away at Sheppards's legs. A shot to the body from Murgen misses and Sheppards counters with a straight right hand. A swing and a miss from Sheppards. As Sheppards backs away, Murgen returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Murgen throws a series of strikes that have Sheppards backpedaling.
Murgen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Sheppards throws a right and a left that both miss. Murgen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sheppards. Murgen just misses with a punch to the body.
Jurgen Murgen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Murgen slips a jab and a cross from Sheppards.
Murgen slips a straight right by Sheppards. Sheppards lands a slapping body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheppards shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. We've been told by Murgen's head coaches at Bad Pluto! (18 Elite Coach) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Murgen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sheppards. That did some damage! Sheppards with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Murgen to score with a decent uppercut. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sheppards is defended easily by Murgen. Jurgen Murgen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Sheppards. Murgen throws a body punch but Sheppards moves out of range. Sheppards throws out a counter right but Murgen avoids it with no problem. Murgen tries a head kick but it misses.
Murgen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Murgen fails in his attempt to clinch. Murgen jabs Sheppards right on the nose. Sheppards blinks but takes it well. Nice defenses there by Murgen. Nice body punch from Murgen. Murgen clinches. Murgen misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Carl Sheppards will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Sheppards goes for a double leg but Murgen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Murgen continues to drive forward. Murgen appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Sheppards might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Sheppards scores with a decent looking hook. Murgen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Jurgen Murgen is winning the standup battle so far. Sheppards missing with a left hand there. Murgen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Murgen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Murgen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sheppards manages to avoid it. It seemed like Sheppards was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Sheppards uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murgen.
Sheppards throws an off balance right hand
and Sheppards takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A good leg kick by Murgen. Danga de danga de dang - Sheppards scores with a four punch combination!
Murgen is rocked! Murgen gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Sheppards points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Murgen wakes up just in time to hear Sheppards thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carl Sheppards! After the fight, Carl Sheppards was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
