PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eryk Bartnik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azamat Gashimov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bartnik might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Blacktide - Honest Eyes. Gashimov has chosen Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars) as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eryk Bartnik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Azamat Gashimov!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartnik dives in and grabs Gashimov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gashimov pushes down on Bartnik's head and hops out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bartnik.
Gashimov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gashimov ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Gashimov with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gashimov slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

It looks like Eryk Bartnik has been cut.
Bartnik tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gashimov swivels and escapes.
A little jabbing left from Gashimov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eryk Bartnik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bartnik walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Gashimov leaves Bartnik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bartnik shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gashimov counters with a big uppercut that knocks Bartnik off his feet! Gashimov dives into side control looking to finish!

Bartnik is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bartnik is looking to reverse the position.
Oh Bartnik is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Gashimov decides to stand back up. Gashimov steps back and let's Bartnik get back to his feet.
Gashimov walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Bartnik drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gashimov swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Bartnik's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Azamat Gashimov!
Azamat Gashimov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
