The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasilyev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Couture defends well and Vasilyev ends up having to push Couture into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Couture lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vasilyev circles away quickly and effectively.
Vasilyev takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Couture lands with an overhand left.
Vasilyev shoots in for a double leg but Couture sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vasilyev misses with a hook.
Couture throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A swing and a miss from Vasilyev.
Vasilyev throws a hook to the side of Couture's head but Couture sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Couture is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Vasilyev shoots in for a takedown but Couture shows good takedown defense.
