Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitchel Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshimitzu Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Smashing pumpkins - Disarm. Sakuraba is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Pride theme song blares through the speaker as fireworks erupt . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuraba has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Thompson finds it's way round the side to connect with Sakuraba's head.
It looks like Yoshimitzu Sakuraba has been cut.
Thompson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Thompson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sakuraba should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sakuraba is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sakuraba working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thompson misses with a hook. Sakuraba ducked under it nicely.

Sakuraba shoots in and drives through. Thompson sprawls well.
Thompson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sakuraba sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sakuraba throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sakuraba is in Thompson's guard.

Sakuraba shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thompson defends it nicely.
Sakuraba takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Thompson scores with a jab. Sakuraba acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
That has opened up Yoshimitzu Sakuraba's cut even more.
Sakuraba throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Sakuraba finishes the takedown easily into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Yoshimitzu Sakuraba will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Thompson counters with a left to the body.

Thompson drops Sakuraba with a big left hand! Sakuraba is injured, injured bad! Thompson jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

A less than humble Mitchel Thompson misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
