The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

TanHer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
TanHer stops a takedown attempt from Mandell.

TanHer has Mandell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. TanHer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mandell tumbling to the mat - TanHer dives into Mandell's guard.
Mandell striking off his back but it's not causing TanHer any problems.
TanHer is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mandell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
TanHer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mandell is keeping the position for now.
Mandell throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

TanHer drops back looking for a leg! Mandell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mandell manages to kick TanHer off! TanHer jumps back into Mandell's guard.
Mandell wants to sweep here but TanHer controlling him for the moment.
TanHer tries to free his leg and advance position but Mandell is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mandell tries to strike from the bottom.
TanHer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mandell wants to clinch
and TanHer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mandell has his takedown stuffed
and TanHer counters with a straight right hand.

TanHer has closed the distance and engaged Mandell in a clinch.
TanHer prevents the takedown attempt.
Evan TanHer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Howie Mandell.
Come on TanHer - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
TanHer avoids a wild elbow strike from Mandell.

TanHer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mandell is trying to escape the position but TanHer is controlling the position.
TanHer lands a few punches from side control.

TanHer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mandell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mandell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but TanHer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mandell can't do much from the bottom here.
Mandell striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
TanHer lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mandell down.

TanHer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

TanHer has hold of Mandell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mandell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - TanHer cranks the arm and Mandell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mandell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
