Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Denver Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cage McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage McCoy has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Denver Santiago's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denver Santiago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cage McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCoy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santiago to the mat! Santiago manages to get full guard.
Santiago keeping moving, preventing McCoy from controlling successfully.
Santiago is looking to stand up but McCoy isn't so interested in that idea.
McCoy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Santiago could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McCoy wants to control from the top but Santiago keeps moving.

McCoy has gone for a leg lock! Santiago slips out almost immediately though and dives into McCoy's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCoy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santiago doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santiago manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Santiago has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
McCoy wants to get back to his feet but Santiago is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCoy looking for a guillotine here but Santiago defends easily.
McCoy seems keen to control Santiago's posture.

McCoy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Santiago gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Santiago missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

McCoy throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McCoy trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

McCoy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santiago is looking to stand up but McCoy won't let him.
McCoy working a defensive guard here.
McCoy looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Santiago puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Santiago thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McCoy's head.

Santiago is trying to work for a kimura but McCoy is defending well.
Santiago thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Santiago is looking for a kimura here.
Santiago looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McCoy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
McCoy wants to control but Santiago is keeping busy.

Santiago is working for a submission of some sort.

McCoy manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Santiago keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McCoy has hold of one of Santiago's legs. Santiago is fighting the takedown attempt but McCoy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
McCoy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McCoy tries to free his leg and advance position but Santiago is retaining full guard.
Santiago wants to sweep here but McCoy controlling him for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

McCoy stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cage McCoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCoy gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Santiago holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cage McCoy dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McCoy throws a combination that misses
letting Santiago counter with a right hand.
McCoy throws a head kick that misses.
Santiago tries to counter by moving into the clinch but McCoy manages to circle out of the way.

McCoy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McCoy showed some decent athleticism there.

McCoy in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Santiago tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from McCoy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cage McCoy!
