Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chiyono Fuji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keijo Virtanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Virtanen's choice of entrance music: Maamme Laulu. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chiyono Fuji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Keijo Virtanen!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuji throws a right and a left that Virtanen avoids nicely.
Virtanen throws out a counter right but Fuji avoids it with no problem.
Fuji throws a body shot but no joy.
Virtanen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Virtanen misses with a straight right.
Virtanen misses with a hook
and Fuji cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Fuji counters with a nice uppercut.
Virtanen shoots in but no luck this time.
Keijo Virtanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Virtanen tries for a takedown but Fuji circles away easily
and Fuji counters with a three punch combo that has Virtanen backing up. Virtanen nods at Fuji to acknowledge the strikes.
Chiyono Fuji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keijo Virtanen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Fuji counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fuji throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

and Fuji connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Virtanen shoots in for a takedown but Fuji shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fuji throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Virtanen has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Virtanen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fuji defends it nicely.

Virtanen throws an overhand right that lands on Fuji's shoulder, as Fuji tries to avoid the shot.
A little feinted left hand from Fuji on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Virtanen dives in and scores a takedown into Fuji's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fuji has Virtanen pulled in close to control his posture.
Fuji's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Virtanen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fuji has Virtanen pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fuji seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fuji lands with a hook. Virtanen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Virtanen is defended easily by Fuji.
It looked like Fuji wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Virtanen shoots in for a takedown but Fuji shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fuji swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Horrible takedown attempt by Virtanen or perhaps it was just good defense by Fuji, which made it look bad.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fuji is not content to let Virtanen control the position.
Fuji wants to get back to full guard.
Fuji won't allow Virtanen to pass to mount.

Virtanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fuji swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Virtanen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Virtanen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Virtanen takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Fuji paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Virtanen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fuji sprawls well. Fuji wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Virtanen gets slowly back to his feet.
Fuji swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

and Fuji counters with a crisp right that sends Virtanen to the canvas! Fuji follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
