The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day misses with a double jab
and Amadeus counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Day! Day tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Day's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Amadeus advances nicely into full mount. Day is desperately trying to improve his position but Amadeus has a good base and remains in mount. Amadeus seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Day is holding on tight.
Day defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Amadeus. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amadeus is trying to take his opponent's back.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Day has his foot on Amadeus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Amadeus works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Amazing Amadeus dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Day sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Amadeus passes to side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Day is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Amadeus off and has taken his back! Day working for a choke but Amadeus is defending well. Day punches the canvas rather than the man. Day is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Amadeus is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Day off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Day controlling well, preventing Amadeus from escaping the position.
