Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyron Lawler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruno Hunter! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunter dives in and scores a takedown into Lawler's guard. Hunter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hunter trying to control but Lawler is working from the bottom. Lawler wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling him. Lawler avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hunter wants to stand but Lawler is controlling his posture from full guard. Hunter throwing strikes from guard but Lawler blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hunter's corner is telling him to maintain position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lawler is looking to stand up but Hunter isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Hunter leaves Lawler with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lawler tries to bum rush Hunter with a series of wild strikes but Hunter uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hunter clinches up against the cage. Lawler manages to break the clinch.
Hunter takes one to the side of the head.
Hunter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lawler's half guard. Hunter not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lawler blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hunter. Hunter is just content to waste time from the top position. Lawler takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Hunter wants to control from the top but Lawler keeps moving. Hunter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lawler keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully. Hunter wants to stand but Lawler is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Lawler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawler wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter shoots in and drives through. Lawler sprawls well. Lawler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hunter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Lawler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hunter pinned against the cage. Hunter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. He's got his arms around Hunter's waist but Hunter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lawler off to one side. Hunter shoots in and drives through. Lawler sprawls well. Hunter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lawler avoids it really well and circles away. Hunter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lawler. Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lawler swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hunter gets caught napping as Lawler dives in and scores a takedown. Hunter manages to retain guard. Lawler wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hunter is on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter prevents Lawler from getting back to his feet. Hunter wants to control from the top but Lawler keeps moving. Hunter wants to get up but he can't break Lawler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Hunter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Lawler is looking to stand up but Hunter isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruno Hunter has got the better of the ground game so far. Hunter is looking for a sweep. Lawler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hunter moves into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lawler throws an elbow that misses. Hunter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lawler's guard. Nice move by Hunter! Lawler keeping full guard, as Hunter tries to pass. Lawler pulls Hunter in close to his closed guard and prevents Hunter from doing any damage or advancing position. Hunter wants to control from the top but Lawler keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter stays in close to Lawler's body and controls the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lawler swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Hunter counter with a right hand. Hunter rushes Lawler and presses him up against the cage. Lawler breaks from the clinch.
Lawler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawler wants it to stay on the feet. A big left from Hunter misses. Lawler tries to bum rush Hunter with a series of wild strikes but Hunter uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tyron Lawler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lawler lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Lawler closes the distance and lands a one-two. Lawler lands a nice shot that snaps Hunter's head back.
Lawler thuds a left hand into Hunter's body. This has been an exciting period of action! No luck for Hunter with that takedown attempt. Tyron Lawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Hunter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Lawler throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hunter moves into the clinch. Lawler manages to break the clinch.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch but Lawler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lawler jabs Hunter right on the nose. Hunter blinks but takes it well. Lawler lands a nice looking body shot.
Lawler closes the distance and lands a one-two. Sloppy strikes from Lawler. Those never looked like landing. Hunter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hunter is looking to take this fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyron Lawler dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Hunter tries to clinch up but Lawler circles away and keeps his distance. Lawler is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hunter's half guard. Lawler looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Lawler prevents Hunter from improving his position. Lawler trying to control the pace. Hunter wants to control but Lawler passes into side.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lawler working the body and head with strikes. Lawler trying to control the position but Hunter is working away. Hunter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Hunter punching from the bottom.
Lawler content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hunter moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lawler stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hunter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lawler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lawler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lawler trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lawler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter tries to clinch up. Hunter looks to clinch and Lawler counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Lawler scores with a shot to the body.
Hunter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lawler circles away. Lawler is looking to wear down Hunter with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Lawler misses with a takedown and Hunter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lawler thinking. Lawler lands a right hook to the body.
Hunter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lawler wants to get back to his feet.

Hunter is looking to take a break and control but Lawler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawler is positioning himself well to prevent Hunter advancing to mount. Hunter keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Lawler won't allow Hunter to pass to mount. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hunter not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hunter tries to clinch but Lawler is having none of it. Hunter fails with a takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyron Lawler showed his dominance in that final round. I think Lawler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
