Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ceaser Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Tappenahomma!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie thows a leg kick but Tappenahomma checks it
enabling Tappenahomma to counter with a crisp jab.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Ceaser Gracie has been cut.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Tappenahomma sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tappenahomma steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Gracie.

Gracie darts in and clinches Tappenahomma up against the cage.

Gracie gets control of Tappenahomma's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gracie will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We've been hearing good reports from Gracie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Tappenahomma must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie can't keep his opponent in guard - Tappenahomma advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tappenahomma content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Tappenahomma's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gracie is looking to escape.
Tappenahomma stalling.
Tappenahomma wants to advance to full mount but Gracie doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Tappenahomma tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tappenahomma passes into half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Tappenahomma is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gracie reverses the position - he's now on top in Tappenahomma's guard.

Gracie is looking to advance position but Tappenahomma has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chief Tappenahomma dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ceaser Gracie's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gracie gets tackled into the cage by Tappenahomma. Tappenahomma maintains the clinch.
Gracie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tappenahomma lands a knee to the head.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gracie is trying to push Tappenahomma away but Tappenahomma has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Tappenahomma works on Gracie's body with a couple of short punches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie takes a knee to the side of the body.
Tappenahomma creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gracie's defenses.


Ceaser Gracie's cut is getting worse.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tappenahomma scores with a hook to the body.
Tappenahomma comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Tappenahomma crunches a lovely knee into Gracie's ribcage.

Ceaser Gracie's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ceaser Gracie's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Chief Tappenahomma! Chief Tappenahomma retains his welterweight title!
After winning the bout, Chief Tappenahomma thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
