Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonqw Fray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dorian Yates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonqw Fray is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorian Yates!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fray blocks a low kick nicely.
Nice shot lands for Fray.
Nice defenses there by Fray.
Fray connects with a crisp jab.
A jab from Yates misses.
Fray has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Mello MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Nice takedown defense from Yates. No joy for Fray on that attempt.
Yates feints a counter leg kick.
Dorian Yates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yates lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fray circles away quickly and effectively.
Yates fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Fray checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yates throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Fray.


It looks like Jonqw Fray has been cut.
Fray closes the distance and clinches up with Yates, looking for a takedown. Fray pushes Yates against the cage but Yates circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fray shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yates as he avoids it easily.

Yates sizes up Fray with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fray loads up on a big right hand but Yates slips the punch.
Fray lands a slapping body shot.
Yates throws a low kick but Fray avoids it.
Fray avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Yates lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Yates throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Yates connects with the punch.
Fray throws a body punch but Yates moves out of range.
Yates misses with a low kick as Fray jumps back.

Fray shoots in for a double leg but Yates sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yates lands with a kick to the temple. Fray shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Yates misses the shot to the body.
Fray moves out of range of the strikes.
Yates has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Yates throws out a loose jab but Fray uses good head movement to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Yates. Fray does a little dance to reset his feet.
Yates looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Yates tries to land a front kick but Fray steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Fray drops down looking for a counter takedown but Yates sprawls and moves away.

Fray looks to throw the jab but Yates is out of range.
Yates missing with a left hand there. Fray was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Yates looks for the body kick but Fray saw that one coming.
Yates scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A chopping leg kick lands by Fray.
Yates works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fray uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yates.
Fray attempts a counter takedown but Yates avoids it well and moves away.
Fray misses the shot to the body.
Yates appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Fray shoots for a takedown but Yates saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Yates holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Yates content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Fray takes a shot to the head.
Yates makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Yates gets underhooks to prevent Fray's takedown attempt.
Fray is trying to push Yates away but Yates has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Fray goes for a takedown in the clinch but Yates prevents it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Fray has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Yates avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Yates lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Yates lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Yates manages to break the clinch.

Fray gets tackled into the cage by Yates. Yates maintains the clinch.
Yates pushes Fray back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fray blocks an uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Yates creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Yates misses with some punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fray takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Fray uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yates.
Fray scores with a jab to the body.
Yates lands with an overhand left.
Dorian Yates seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fray swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Yates throws out a counter right but Fray avoids it with no problem.
Fray misses with a looping left.
Yates is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Yates throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fray's head.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Yates. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Yates pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Yates throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Fray tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yates swivels and escapes.
Yates tries a quick counter leg kick but Fray is wise to it.

Yates lands a nice shot that snaps Fray's head back.
Yates scores with a jab. Fray acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Fray shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fray steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Yates. That one must have hurt.
Yates displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fray throws out the jab.
The crowd cheers as Fray lands an impressive looking overhand right. Yates doesn't seem phased though.

Yates misses with a body shot.
Yates's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Fray connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Yates scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yates wants to clinch.
Fray changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Yates has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fray misses with a hook
and Yates counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Yates lands with a thumping leg kick.
Yates throws a poor cross that misses

and Fray counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fray might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Yates is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Yates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Yates is looking to advance position but Fray won't allow it.

Fray trying to control but Yates postures up.
Yates is controlling the pace.
Yates wants to pass to mount but Fray is defending the position.
Fray preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Yates is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fray sees it coming and defends easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yates passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fray!

Yates is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fray is surviving well by controlling Yates's body position as best he can.
Fray is squirming around, avoiding Yates's attempts to control the action.
Fray tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Yates wants to control the pace but Fray is squirming around nicely.

Yates goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Fray is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dorian Yates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Fray's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Fray ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fray swings widly with a right hand

and Yates counters by clinching up.
Yates scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Yates makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Dorian Yates seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Fray has hold of one of Yates's legs. Yates is fighting the takedown attempt but Fray gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Yates wants to sweep but no luck.
Fray stands and throws Yates's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Yates's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Yates manages to get back to half guard.

Yates is pulling down on Fray's head. It's preventing any offense from Fray, at least for the moment.
Yates wants to sweep but no luck.
Yates is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Yates tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fray working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Yates's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Yates shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fray eats them both and turns towards Yates to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Yates attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Fray appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Fray avoids the head kick by Yates.
A shot to the body from Fray misses
and Yates cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Fray lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

I've got Yates winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
