Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marty Atkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Barybin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Barybin! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barybin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Atkinson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Barybin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Atkinson! Atkinson trying to remain calm as Barybin controls from the top position. Atkinson gets back to half guard. Atkinson is trying to stand back up but Barybin is controlling him
Atkinson desperately trying to maintain half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Atkinson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barybin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barybin's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Atkinson is trying to stick to Barybin's back but Barybin is turning into Atkinson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Atkinson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Barybin. Barybin wants to stand but Atkinson is controlling his posture from full guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Barybin wants to pass the guard but Atkinson is keeping the position. Atkinson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Atkinson has a closed guard, preventing Barybin from standing up. Atkinson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Atkinson managing to control the position. Barybin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Atkinson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barybin sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Barybin looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Atkinson looking for a sweep. Not yet Atkinson, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barybin looking to sit in guard and control but Atkinson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Atkinson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Barybin's head. Atkinson postures up.
Barybin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Atkinson is controlling him. Atkinson throws a strike but Barybin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barybin is looking to stand up but Atkinson won't let him. Barybin throws an elbow that misses. Atkinson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Barybin's guard. Nice move by Atkinson! Atkinson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barybin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Barybin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Atkinson looking for a sweep. Not yet Atkinson, not yet. Barybin wants to control from the top but Atkinson keeps moving. Alexander Barybin has got the better of the ground game so far. Barybin dives in and scores a takedown into Atkinson's guard. Atkinson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Atkinson wants to sweep but no luck. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Atkinson holds on and takes a little breather. Barybin trying to move into half guard but instead Atkinson has managed to sweep!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Atkinson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Atkinson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Barybin. That did some damage! Atkinson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barybin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Atkinson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Barybin moves in looking to clinch but Atkinson pushes him off. Atkinson misses with a body kick. Barybin wants to counter the offense by Atkinson and move into the clinch position. Barybin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Barybin misses with an uppercut. Barybin darts in and clinches Atkinson up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Atkinson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A looping hook to the body misses from Barybin. Atkinson does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barybin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Barybin looking to pass the guard. Barybin throws a big elbow that misses. Barybin being controlled here momentarily. Barybin stopping the sweep attempt from Atkinson. Atkinson pulls Barybin in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Barybin is looking to stand up but Atkinson won't let him. Barybin showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Barybin fails to land with a series of punches.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Atkinson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Atkinson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Barybin is working an open guard so Atkinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Barybin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Atkinson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Atkinson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Atkinson is looking to control Barybin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Atkinson avoid being mounted?

Atkinson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Barybin has taken the fight to the clinch.

Barybin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Atkinson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barybin defends well.
