PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doomsday Drost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drost comes to the cage accompanied by Kilpi - Sielut Iskee Tulta. Kessler has chosen Yattering - Chase of Thoughts as his entrance music. Doomsday Drost has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Doomsday Drost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Kessler!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Kessler there.
Drost throws a body shot but no joy.
Kessler throws a solid leg kick but Drost takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kessler.
Kessler misses with a body kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Drost misses the target.
Kessler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Drost moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kessler paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Drost throws a jab but it's blocked by Kessler.
A solid body kick from Kessler.
Kessler lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Kessler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Drost is positioning himself well to prevent Kessler advancing to mount.
Kessler is looking to take a break and control but Drost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kessler takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Drost has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kessler is working away from the top position though.

Kessler is trying to control. Drost wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kessler wants to pass the guard but Drost is defending well.

Drost is not content to let Kessler control the position.
Drost won't allow Kessler to pass to mount.
Kessler slips a nice elbow through Drost's hands, connecting with Drost's forehead.
Drost avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kessler.
Kessler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Drost's head.
Drost is trying to control but can't.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Drost moves into full guard.
Drost looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kessler won't allow Drost to get back to his feet.
Drost pulls Kessler in to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kessler.
An elbow from Kessler crashes against the mat.
Kessler lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Drost down.

Drost wants to control but Kessler postures up.
I wouldn't like to be where Drost is right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kessler wants to take a breather but Drost manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kessler.
Kessler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drost works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Drost is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kessler lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kessler cracks Drost with a solid left hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Drost wants to stand up but Kessler is controlling him.
Drost avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kessler's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kessler looks to land a combination. Drost sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Doomsday Drost has been cut.
Drost walks into a stiff left hand from Kessler.
A punch lands to the side of Drost 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Drost throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kessler sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kessler swings away with a body shot that misses
and Drost counters with a stiff right hand.
Drost tries to clinch but Kessler is having none of it.
Kessler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kessler looks for a takedown but Drost sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kessler lands with a good body shot.
Kessler misses with a kick to the body
and Drost counters with a nice uppercut.
Drost is looking to clinch.
Kessler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Kessler dives in and scores a takedown into Drost's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kessler's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Kessler prevents Drost from getting back to his feet.
Drost preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kessler wants to control from the top but Drost keeps moving.
Kessler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kessler is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Drost is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Drost is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kessler is refusing to be controlled, as Drost sits in half guard.
Kessler wants to get back to full guard.

Drost will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Drost seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Drost lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Kessler quite badly. Kessler pulls Drost in close trying to recover. Drost postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Kessler on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Kessler doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Doomsday Drost!
