The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz is looking to clinch but Escobart is avoiding it.
Escobart's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Escobart duly obliges.
Cruz doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Escobart lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Alex Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz moves in looking to clinch but Escobart pushes him off.
Escobart steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Cruz.
Cruz takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Escobart lands with a cross.
Cruz fails with an attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Escobart was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Escobart cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Escobart's coach down at Ironfist MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Escobart's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Escobart avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and as Cruz tries to reset, Escobart cracks him with a perfect counter right hand that drops him to the mat! Cruz is trying to get up but he's doing the chicken dance and face plants back to the floor - that's enough for the referee and he's called the bout! This one is all over!
