The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okunaba throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Karl counters with a thumping low kick.
Nice defenses there by Karl.
Karl swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
We've been informed that Okunaba has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Okunaba scores with a one two! Karl had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Pernell Karl has been cut.
Karl dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Karl lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Okunaba backs up against the ropes.
Okunaba misses with a right hand
and Karl counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Okunaba is rocked!
Karl cracks Okunaba with a left hook right on the temple and Okunaba goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Karl lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Okunaba is OK!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pernell Karl!
Pernell Karl decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
