PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanton Crowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crowe has chosen The Builders & The Butchers - Bringing Home The Rain as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stanton Crowe!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Crowe enables Harris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Crowe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Crowe wants to sweep but no luck.
Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Crowe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Crowe chips away with some ground and pound.
Crowe wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.

Harris looking for a guillotine here but Crowe defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harris is trying to control the position but Crowe postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris wants to sweep here but Crowe controlling him for the moment.
Harris keeping full guard, as Crowe tries to pass.

Harris looking for a guillotine here but Crowe defends easily.
Crowe wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.
Crowe stays in close to Harris's body and controls the position.

Harris looking for subs off his back but Crowe has passed one foot through into half guard.
Harris gets full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Crowe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Crowe won't allow Harris to sweep him here.
Harris not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crowe trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom.
Crowe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Harris's head.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Harris holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Crowe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Harris at a distance.
Harris moves out of range of the body kick from Crowe.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Crowe gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Crowe fails to land.
Harris doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Harris blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Harris prevents a body shot from Crowe.
Crowe misses with some punches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Harris.

Harris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crowe throws a looping overhand right but Harris ducks down to avoid it.
Harris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Crowe throws a lazy right hand but Harris sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Crowe misses with an uppercut. Harris saw that one coming.
Crowe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Harris.
Harris clobbers Crowe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Crowe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Harris is looking to land body kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crowe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Harris tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crowe was well out of range. Poor timing from Harris.
Crowe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Harris.
Harris ducks under a wild hook from Crowe.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crowe slips a straight right by Harris.
Crowe works the jab nicely.


It looks like Paul Harris has been cut.
Crowe lands with a nice body punch.
Crowe throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Nice body kick from Crowe.
Crowe tests Harris's chin there with a solid looking shot.
An inside leg kick from Harris misses.
Stanton Crowe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed right hand from Harris misses the target.
Harris moves out of range of the strikes.
Harris changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Crowe blocks a jab.
Crowe lands with a right hand.
Harris scores with a jab. Crowe acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Crowe throws a left that rocks Harris and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Crowe dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Harris regain composure!


Harris is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stanton Crowe dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paul Harris's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Crowe measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Harris! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Stanton Crowe!
Stanton Crowe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
