Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malcolm West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eysteinn Thornsteisson! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West has taken the fight to the clinch.
Thornsteisson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Thornsteisson throws a punch but it's blocked by West. West tries to pull guard but Thornsteisson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. West tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. We've been informed that Thornsteisson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Thornsteisson drags the fight down to the ground.

West is looking to clinch. Thornsteisson wants to counter the offense by West and move into the clinch position. West drives through and clinches with Thornsteisson against the cage.

West tries to throw a body punch but Thornsteisson avoids it by throwing West back against the cage. West is looking to take this one to the mat. West tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thornsteisson paws at him with a jab and circles away. West fails with the takedown. Thornsteisson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. West is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thornsteisson can do to turn this around?

Thornsteisson closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Thornsteisson pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. West looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Malcolm West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. West tries to clinch up but Thornsteisson circles away and keeps his distance. West is looking to clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Malcolm West will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
A head kick by Thornsteisson misses and West counters with a two punch combo. West tries to clinch up. West shoots in but Thornsteisson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Thornsteisson is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. West changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thornsteisson tries to avoid it but West manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thornsteisson to the ground. Thornsteisson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. West tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thornsteisson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten West somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Malcolm West. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thornsteisson struggling a bit here. West throws a strike aimed at the side of Thornsteisson's head but Thornsteisson avoids it well. Thornsteisson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, West asserts his dominance and retains side control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. West creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

West lands with a hammerfist to the side of Thornsteisson's head. Thornsteisson grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. West throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. West throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Thornsteisson!

And that's the end of the fight! Malcolm West showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for West, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
