Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Mangold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Shimazu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mangold comes to the cage accompanied by Dead Prez . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Danny Mangold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, William Shimazu!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimazu paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


It looks like Danny Mangold has been cut.

Shimazu closes the distance and clinches.
Shimazu lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mangold backwards.
Shimazu told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Mangold is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shimazu can't fight it off and eventually Mangold manages to take the fight to the floor. Shimazu looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mangold stands up over Shimazu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Shimazu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mangold escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shimazu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mangold has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shimazu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mangold had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shimazu defends it easily.

Mangold working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shimazu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shimazu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Shimazu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mangold has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shimazu has managed to get both his arms back between Mangold's legs - danger averted.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mangold has his foot on Shimazu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shimazu works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Mangold will probably get the nod.

Shimazu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mangold shoots in for a takedown but Shimazu shows good takedown defense.
Mangold shoots in but no luck this time.

Mangold clinches up with Shimazu and pushes him back against the cage.
Shimazu tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Shimazu lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mangold backwards.
Shimazu misses with some punches.
Mangold fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Shimazu swings wildly with an uppercut but Mangold uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mangold tightens his grip and picks Shimazu up, before dumping him to the ground. Shimazu manages to land in guard.
Mangold postures up and lands a big shot to Shimazu's brow.
Shimazu wants to stand up but Mangold is controlling him.
Mangold missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Mangold stands up over Shimazu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mangold is working Shimazu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Shimazu looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mangold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Shimazu pushes Mangold off and scrambles back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shimazu is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Shimazu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mangold is just riding it out for now. Shimazu eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Mangold will probably get the nod.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Shimazu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.


Danny Mangold's cut is getting worse.
Mangold drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Shimazu gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Shimazu tries a knee to the head but Mangold blocks it.
William Shimazu seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Shimazu prevents the takedown attempt.
Shimazu throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Shimazu.
Mangold takes an elbow to the temple.

Shimazu lands with a light punch inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Danny Mangold's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Shimazu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Mangold looking for a takedown.
Shimazu with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Shimazu lands a hook to the side of the head.
Shimazu scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Shimazu drops Mangold with a big knee straight up the middle! Mangold is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


Mangold is rocked!

Shimazu drives through and clinches with Mangold against the cage.
Oh Mangold is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shimazu pushes Mangold against the cage. Shimazu is working some dirty boxing. Shimazu pushes off with a quick right hook! Mangold goes down! Mangold tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Shimazu moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Shimazu!
An out of breath William Shimazu thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Danny Mangold had this to say: 'I have fallen this once, but I promise to pick myself up again. I will never ever disappoint the millions of my fans again. The road to success is long, but I am a fighter, and I will persevere. '.
