The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a predictable looking body shot

and Risley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

We've been hearing reports that Risley has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cruz! But no joy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Risley is pushing Cruz up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Cruz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Cruz tries to stall but Risley uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Risley for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

and Cruz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That has opened up Jos Cruz's cut even more.
Risley lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Cruz.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Cruz has eaten all the pies!
Risley slowing the pace effectively.
Risley makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Risley lands a hook that snaps the head of Cruz backwards.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Risley throws a right and a left that both miss.
Left hook, right uppercut from Risley.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Risley scores a knockdown with a big right hand! Cruz beats the count and gets back to his feet. The referee asks him to walk forwards and it appears he is OK so we'll continue the bout.


Cruz is rocked!
Risley lands a nice hook to Cruz's body. Cruz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Cruz looks winded!
Cruz walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Cruz is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!
