Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rosario Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rosario Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Rage!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Rage or perhaps it was just good defense by Pierce, which made it look bad.
Rage swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Pierce counters with a takedown into side control.
Pierce scores with punches from side control.
Rage wants to control but Pierce postures up.
Pierce working the head with strikes.

Pierce decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rage to his feet.
Rage fails with a takedown attempt.
Pierce avoids a punch combination nicely.

Rage throws a series of punches but Pierce avoids them all with ease.
Pierce throws a big counter combination but Rage scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Pierce throws an overhand right that lands on Rage's shoulder, as Rage tries to avoid the shot.
Nice takedown defense from Pierce. No joy for Rage on that attempt.
Rosario Pierce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Rage.
Rage looks for a takedown but Pierce sprawls well.
Pierce is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rage.

and Pierce decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rage's guard.

Rage is working an open guard so Pierce takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Pierce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pierce needs to keep his hands up - Rage had a free shot at his head there.

Rage gets caught flat footed, as Pierce shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rage looking to control but Pierce passes into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pierce connects with a nice short shot to Rage's temple.
Rage has hold of Pierce's hands but Pierce slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pierce working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Pierce blocks the strikes from Rage.

Pierce is looking for a kimura but Rage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierce to get the leverage.

Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pierce paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Pierce counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rage looks winded!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pierce lands a nice short elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierce escapes and gets back to his feet.
Rage misses the shot to the body.
Rage lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Pierce keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pierce misses with a double jab.
Rage shoots in looking for a takedown but Pierce manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rage's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rage looks to score with a jab to the body but Pierce is just out of range.
Rage wants to clinch
and Rage takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Rage tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pierce defends well and Rage ends up having to push Pierce into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pierce changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Pierce pushes Rage up against the cage in a clinch.

Pierce drags the fight down to the ground.

Pierce working for a triangle but Rage defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pierce has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pierce looking for a guillotine here but Rage defends easily.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Rosario Pierce dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rage throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Rage has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rage escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Pierce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Pierce stands up from guard. Let's bang!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rage is defended easily by Pierce.
Pierce is looking to counter the offense by Rage and move into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rage throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Pierce counters with a single leg into guard. Rage didn't expect that.
Pierce postures up and lands a big shot to Rage's brow.

Rage misses with a takedown attempt - Pierce sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pierce has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ryan Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Pierce counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Pierce is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Pierce seems to be looking for submissions.

Rage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pierce takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Pierce's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rage tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pierce sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rage somewhat.

Pierce is looking for a kimura but Rage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierce to get the leverage.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Pierce for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Rage pulls guard successfully.
Rosario Pierce is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pierce drops back looking for a leg! Rage is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rage manages to kick Pierce off! Pierce jumps back into Rage's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rosario Pierce showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pierce, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
