Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mac Alvarado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mac Alvarado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jay Evans!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Evans looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Alvarado gets caught flat footed, as Evans shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Evans looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Evans is looking to stand up but Alvarado won't let him.
Alvarado managing to control the position.
Evans won't allow Alvarado to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarado pulls Evans in close to prevent any damage.
Alvarado is looking to stand up but Evans isn't so interested in that idea.

Evans gets to his feet - Alvarado follows without any prompting.

Evans shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Alvarado is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Alvarado is trying to stand up here but Evans is controlling him well.

Alvarado is trying to control but can't.
Alvarado pushes Evans off looking to stand but Evans dives back in and keeps control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alvarado shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Evans pinned against the cage. Evans gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Evans shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alvarado napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Evans is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alvarado is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans wants to control but Alvarado is keeping him busy.

Evans thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Evans connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Alvarado some visible discomfort.

Evans tries to move to mount but Alvarado blocks the move with his legs.
Alvarado is trying to improve his position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alvarado is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Alvarado is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Evans has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alvarado wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Evans tries a head kick but it misses.

Evans closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Alvarado trying to hold on to Evans's head to control him but Evans postures up.
Alvarado pushes Evans off looking to stand but Evans dives back in and keeps control.
Alvarado wants to control but Evans is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Evans wants to pass to mount but Alvarado is defending the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Evans connects with a nice short shot to Alvarado's temple.

Alvarado is trying to stand.

Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Evans is breathing heavily.
It looks like Evans is going to stand back up.
Alvarado tries to kick Evans off but Evans keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alvarado enables Evans to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alvarado manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Alvarado has a closed guard, preventing Evans from standing up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Alvarado gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Evans is looking to work some ground and pound but Alvarado has wrist control.

Evans would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Evans passes into half guard.
Evans wants to pass to mount but Alvarado is defending the position.
Alvarado trying to hold on to Evans's head to control him but Evans postures up.

Evans wants to free his trapped foot but Alvarado is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Evans is trying to control the action in half guard but Alvarado is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Some wild striking there from Alvarado.
Evans throws a looping overhand right but Alvarado ducks down to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Alvarado's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Alvarado dodges the punch combination from Evans.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch but Alvarado swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alvarado looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alvarado avoids a kick to the body.
Alvarado throws a big counter combination but Evans scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Alvarado tries to clinch there but Evans circles away.
Alvarado fails in his attempt to clinch.
Evans steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Evans takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Evans drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarado looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarado looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alvarado!

Alvarado wants to stand but Evans is controlling his arm.

Alvarado is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evans has escaped the position, nice work there.
Evans tries to improve position but can't.
Alvarado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Alvarado goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Evans has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Alvarado but great work by Evans.
The strikes coming from Evans are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Alvarado can't do much from the bottom here.

Evans prevents Alvarado from escaping the position.
Evans tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
You can see the frustration on Alvarado's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Alvarado is not content to let Evans control the position.
Alvarado manages to work his way to half guard, despite Evans's best efforts.
Alvarado is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Still in half guard, Evans seems content to control.
Alvarado wants to get back to full guard.
Alvarado blocking the ground and pound attempt from Evans.
Alvarado is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Evans's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Evans's back!
You can see the frustration on Evans's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Alvarado is looking for a rear naked choke here but Evans reverses the position brilliantly into Alvarado's guard!

Alvarado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Evans is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Evans passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Mac Alvarado has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jay Evans is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
