Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Larry Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denis Levesque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Carey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Denis Levesque! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Levesque clinches with his opponent.
Levesque avoiding damage as Carey throws knees to the body.
Carey tries to break the clinch but Levesque is controlling the position. Levesque tries to land knees in the clinch but Carey avoids the damage to the body. Carey drags the fight down to the ground.
Levesque is fighting to break Carey's control of his arms but Carey is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carey lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Carey connects with a couple of short punches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carey stands up over Levesque, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Carey connects with a couple of short punches. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carey's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Carey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey lands a couple of elbows. Carey distracts Levesque with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Levesque is looking to sweep but instead, Carey has passed into half guard.
Carey decides to return to a standing position. Denis Levesque seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Levesque to the mat! Levesque manages to get full guard. Carey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Carey lands a couple of digs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Levesque wants to improve his position but instead Carey has moved into half guard.
Carey scoring with strikes to the body and head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carey performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Levesque has hold of Carey's hands but Carey slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Carey winds up and cracks Levesque with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Levesque has a hand on Carey's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Carey takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Carey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Levesque for as long as he can get away with. Carey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Carey pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Levesque is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Levesque keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Levesque is in a horrible position here. Carey smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Levesque wants to hold on but Carey pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carey controlling his opponent. The referee warns Levesque that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Larry Carey dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Levesque throws a leg kick and Carey counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Levesque has hold of Carey's hands but Carey slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Carey scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Levesque with the active half guard here but Carey passes nicely into side control. Carey cracks Levesque with an elbow. That is naaassty. Carey in side control, just content to control the action for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Levesque can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Levesque takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Levesque tries to control but Carey manages to take his back. Levesque trying to control but not successfully. Carey looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Levesque taps!
