Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Filip Wieclaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamal Mohammed! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wieclaw takes a body punch but keeps moving. A right-left combo lands from Mohammed. Mohammed lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wieclaw backs up against the cage.
Jamal Mohammed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wieclaw shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mohammed napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wieclaw scoring with punches and elbows. This has been an exciting period of action! Mohammed is looking to reverse the position. Check out the look on Wieclaw's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Wieclaw is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mohammed knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mohammed tries to bench press Wieclaw off him but Wieclaw keeps the position. Wieclaw looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mohammed gets back to half guard. Wieclaw lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wieclaw lands a nice short elbow. Wieclaw scoring with strikes to the body and head. Wieclaw is looking to advance position but Mohammed won't allow it. Wieclaw takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Mohammed actively working from the bottom here. Mohammed looking for submissions off his back. Wieclaw is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mohammed doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wieclaw. Mohammed looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wieclaw working over Mohammed with some ground and pound. Mohammed looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wieclaw landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Wieclaw maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mohammed could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Wieclaw has cracked it and Mohammed is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Wieclaw!
