The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Struve dives in and grabs Payne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Payne pushes down on Struve's head and hops out.
Payne shoots for a double leg takedown but Struve sprawls well. He's pushed Payne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Payne looks to score with a jab to the body but Struve is just out of range.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Payne connects with a nice short shot to Struve's temple.

Payne is taking a breather. Struve says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Payne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Payne is keen to just control but Struve is a slippery customer.
