PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Tripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Tripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chase Brennan!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brennan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Brennan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Tripper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tripper wants to stand but Brennan is controlling the position.
Brennan scoring with punches to the head and body.
Brennan stops Tripper from standing up.
Brennan looking to pass the guard.
Brennan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Brennan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brennan postures up and lands a big shot to Tripper's brow.
Brennan works over Tripper with some ground and pound from guard.
Brennan prevents Tripper from getting back to his feet.
Tripper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brennan is in close to Tripper's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Brennan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Brennan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brennan sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Brennan won't allow Tripper to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brennan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tripper appears to be looking for a big counter.
Brennan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tripper wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Brennan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tripper was covering up waiting for the punch and Brennan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brennan distracts Tripper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Brennan prevents Tripper from getting back to his feet.
Tripper trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Brennan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brennan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tripper is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Brennan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brennan throws a big right hand that misses.
Tripper on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tripper tries to get out of the position.
Tripper is looking to stand up but Brennan isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brennan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brennan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Brennan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Tripper pushes Brennan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Brennan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Tripper gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tripper wants to get back to his feet.
Tripper is in a horrible position here. Brennan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tripper trying desperately to get to his feet.
Brennan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Brennan working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brennan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Brennan looking to control but Tripper is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tripper tries to buck Brennan off but he can't manage it.
Brennan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Brennan lands a nice shot to the head.
Tripper's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Brennan with a couple of short strikes.
Brennan with shots to the head and body - Tripper looks very uncomfortable down there.
Brennan lands a couple of good shots and Tripper has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Tripper is rocked!

Brennan is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Tripper with him. Tripper is trying to defend but Brennan has an arm under the chin now! Tripper grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chase Brennan!
