Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liam Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Sproles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sproles's choice of entrance music: can't be touched -Roy Jones Jr. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Liam Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Pete Sproles!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sproles misses with a head kick.
Sproles keeps the fight on the outside.
Woods fails in his attempt to clinch.
Woods throws a right hand that Sproles ducks under and follows up with a left that Sproles also avoids with ease.

Sproles closes the distance and clinches.
Sproles lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Liam Woods has been cut.

Sproles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Woods tries to keep at a distance but Sproles has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sproles breaks the clinch.
Sproles shoots for a takedown but Woods saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sproles clinches up with Woods and pushes him back against the cage.
Woods can't break the clinch.
Sproles misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Woods.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Sproles breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Woods takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Sproles manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Woods tries to hold on but Sproles pushes him away.
Sproles tries to control but Woods wriggling away.

Sproles trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pete Sproles just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sproles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sproles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Sproles.
Sproles shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woods as he jumps to the side.
Sproles looks to clinch

and Woods counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Woods prevents Sproles from getting back to his feet.
Woods seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pete Sproles will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Liam Woods's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sproles fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Woods is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Pete Sproles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sproles drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sproles gets to his feet. Woods looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sproles jumps guard but Woods stands there with Sproles around his waist. Sproles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Sproles has Woods pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Woods manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Liam Woods has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pete Sproles.

Sproles has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Woods uses from the top position.

Pete Sproles seems to be getting the better of the standup.
