The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cain fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mata scores with a kick to the midsection.
Mata tries to clinch up.
Cain tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mata paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cain chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mata can pounce on him.
Mata connects with a solid leg kick.
Mata throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Mata pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Cain as Mata shoots in.
Mata digs a good hook to Cain's body.
Cain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mata lands a head kick. Cain smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Mata throws a head kick that misses.
Mata scores with a leg kick.
Cain takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mata lands with a slapping head kick.
Cain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mata thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cain if he has to take too many more of those.

Mata connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Uchi Mata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Mata, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mata. Cain shrugs it off though.

Mata gets a clinch.

Mata escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mata drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mata trying to control but Cain is working from the bottom.

Mata drops back looking for a leg! Cain is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cain manages to kick Mata off! Mata jumps back into Cain's guard.
Cain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mata throwing strikes from guard but Cain blocks nicely.
Mata forces his way into half guard.
Mata has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mata moves into full mount! Cain won't be happy about that!

Cain defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mata.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mata jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cain manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Cain wants to control but Mata postures up.

Mata is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cain looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mata gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cain is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mata lets go of the hold and Cain can pop his arm back in it's socket.
