Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toktogulovich Bakiyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Masters might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Simply the Best. Toktogulovich Bakiyev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Ken Masters ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Toktogulovich Bakiyev! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bakiyev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Masters . Bakiyev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Masters fails with an attempt to clinch.
Masters swings widly with a right hand
and Bakiyev counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Masters takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Masters dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Masters closes the distance and clinches up with Bakiyev, looking for a takedown. Masters pushes Bakiyev against the cage but Bakiyev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A punch lands to the side of Bakiyev 's head but he takes it in his stride. Masters misses with a left hand and Bakiyev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A telegraphed right hand from Masters misses the target. Bakiyev jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bakiyev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Masters . Bakiyev scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Masters doesn't seem bothered though. A shot to the liver by Bakiyev. Beautiful body shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Masters misses with an uppercut. Bakiyev saw that one coming. Bakiyev ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bakiyev ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Bakiyev waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Masters . Bakiyev gets caught napping as Masters dives in and scores a takedown. Bakiyev manages to retain guard. Masters in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bakiyev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Masters throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Masters accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Masters scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Masters postures up in Bakiyev's guard and throws a big left but Bakiyev blocks it. Masters wants to control from the top but Bakiyev keeps moving. Masters looking to pass the guard. Bakiyev is looking to stand up but Masters isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masters throws a head kick that misses and Bakiyev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Masters closes the distance and pushes Bakiyev back into the cage. Masters tries a body shot but Bakiyev blocks it.
I was talking to Masters 's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Masters lands with a light punch inside. Bakiyev wants to break free but Masters has control.
Masters tries to throw a body punch but Bakiyev avoids it by throwing Masters back against the cage. Masters has Bakiyev pushed against the cage. Bakiyev breaks from the clinch.

Masters tries to work over Bakiyev's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Bakiyev blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Masters has Bakiyev pressed against the cage, preventing Bakiyev from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Bakiyev wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Masters rushes Bakiyev and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Masters takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Masters struggles to land a body shot inside as Bakiyev controls his hands.

A little jabbing left from Bakiyev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Masters lands a really nice looking cross but Bakiyev seems unphased.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Masters throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Bakiyev counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Bakiyev jabs Masters to the body, keeping him at a distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Masters looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Masters closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Masters lands in his opponent's guard. Bakiyev wants to stand but Masters is controlling the position.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Masters stops Bakiyev from standing up. Bakiyev working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Masters . Bakiyev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
