Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Derringer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roy Derringer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alejandro Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Derringer!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derringer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vasquez moves away.
Derringer throws a front kick aimed at Vasquez's knee but Vasquez avoids it well.
A little feinted left hand from Vasquez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Derringer fails to land the takedown.
Vasquez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Derringer tries to counter by closing the distance.
Vasquez cracks Derringer with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Derringer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Derringer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vasquez throws out the jab.
Derringer walks into a straight right hand from Vasquez.
Nice defenses there by Vasquez.
Vasquez swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Vasquez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Derringer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasquez misses with a double jab

and Derringer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vasquez keeping control of the position.
Derringer is looking to stall here but Vasquez recovers full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Derringer wants to control from the top but Vasquez keeps moving.
Vasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Derringer on the ground.
Vasquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

An elbow from Derringer crashes against the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sloppy strikes there by Derringer.
Derringer misses with the ground and pound.
Derringer in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Derringer looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Vasquez is avoiding damage well.
Vasquez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Derringer.
The ground and pound from Derringer seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Derringer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

You can see the frustration on Vasquez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vasquez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Derringer has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Derringer throws a head kick that misses.

A punch combination from Vasquez misses.
Derringer misses with a takedown attempt
and Vasquez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Derringer tries for a takedown but Vasquez circles away easily
and Vasquez counters with a nice uppercut.
Alejandro Vasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Derringer.
Derringer looks winded!

and Vasquez counters with a crisp right hand that drops Derringer! Vasquez lets Derringer back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Derringer is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vasquez connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Derringer to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Vasquez!
