Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Max Williamson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clam Chowder! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chowder rushes Williamson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Williamson is trying to pull guard but Chowder turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Williamson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Chowder to keep the fight standing. Chowder works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Chowder seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Williamson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chowder trying to control but Williamson is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williamson being controlled here, momentarily. Chowder drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Williamson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chowder has Williamson in his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chowder is pulling down on Williamson's head. It's preventing any offense from Williamson, at least for the moment. Chowder is continuing to stall. Williamson stands up from Chowder's guard - Williamson perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A momentary lapse in concentration from Williamson enables Chowder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Williamson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Chowder stands up from Williamson's guard - Chowder perhaps looking for a knockout. Chowder bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Chowder goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Williamson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chowder's guard! Nice work there by Williamson! Chowder looking for a sweep. Not yet Chowder, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chowder holds on and takes a little breather. Chowder's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Williamson is looking to stand up but Chowder won't let him. Chowder avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Williamson tries to stand but Chowder is controlling from the bottom. Chowder trying to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Williamson wants to stand but Chowder has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chowder is trying to keep Williamson in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clam Chowder dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Chowder throws a leg kick enabling Williamson to counter with a crisp jab. Chowder fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williamson sprawls well initially but Chowder persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Well, if Chowder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Williamson is trying to get back to full guard. Chowder is working for a kimura but Williamson is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chowder has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Williamson defend it? Chowder steps over the head and cranks it - Williamson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Chowder!
