Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Burks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Shark!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burks changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shark tries to avoid it but Burks manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shark to the ground. Shark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shark is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Chris Burks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burks tries to clinch but Shark moves out of range.
Burks moves to clinch but Shark breaks away
and Shark counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Burks misses with a takedown attempt - Shark sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shark works over Burks's head and body with a nice combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shark stalks Burks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Burks's face. Burks staggers backwards, shaken.
Burks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Burks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burks throws a series of punches but Shark moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burks showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shark.
Shark throws a right and a left that Burks avoids nicely.
Shark is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Shark shuts the power down on Burks. Lights out, game over! Shark is your winner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). James Shark!
After the fight, James Shark was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
