Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Moo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hamish Gaffney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikey Moo could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hamish Gaffney's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Moo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Hamish Gaffney! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaffney keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. It seemed like Gaffney was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Moo shoots in but no luck this time. Gaffney closes the distance and clinches up with Moo, looking for a takedown. Gaffney pushes Moo against the cage but Moo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Moo fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikey Moo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gaffney throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Moo's head. Gaffney looks to land a combination but Moo avoids it well. Gaffney throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Moo counters with a three punch combo that has Gaffney backing up. Gaffney nods at Moo to acknowledge the strikes. Gaffney shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Moo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gaffney wants to control from the top but Moo keeps moving. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaffney postures up in Moo's guard and throws a big left but Moo blocks it. Moo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moo is adopting a defensive guard. Gaffney content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Moo working a defensive guard but Gaffney manages to pass into side control anyway.
Gaffney working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gaffney has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Moo shoots for a takedown but Gaffney saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Moo tries to sprawl but Gaffney drives through with a takedown into half guard. Moo gets back to full guard.

Moo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gaffney looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gaffney looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gaffney!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaffney thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Moo's head. Moo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gaffney is working away from the top position though. My spies in Sydney Fight Team inform me that Gaffney has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Moo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gaffney is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Moo gets back to full guard.

Gaffney postures up and lands a big shot to Moo's brow. Gaffney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moo swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Moo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gaffney regains guard immediately. Gaffney keeping moving, preventing Moo from controlling successfully. Moo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gaffney works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moo gets to his feet. Gaffney looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Gaffney thows a left - swing and a miss! Moo on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Gaffney lands with a right hand. We've been told by Moo's head coaches at Madz **21 Elite coaches** that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaffney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moo pinned against the cage. Moo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Moo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gaffney swats him away and circles back towards the center. Moo checks a leg kick nicely. Gaffney shoots for a takedown but Moo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. As Gaffney tries to get set, Moo tries to push him back and clinch up but Gaffney manages to avoid the attempt. Moo goes for a double leg but Gaffney avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gaffney continues to drive forward. Gaffney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moo's waist but Moo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gaffney off to one side. Moo shoots in for a takedown but Gaffney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Gaffney tries a head kick but it misses.
Moo attempts a counter takedown but Gaffney avoids it well and moves away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hamish Gaffney dominated that round. That's time! Moo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Moo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gaffney sprawls well. Gaffney wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Moo gets slowly back to his feet. Moo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gaffney did well to prevent Moo getting side control. Moo is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Gaffney as he works his way to full guard.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gaffney is looking for a sweep. Moo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Moo is working for a kimura but Gaffney is defending it quite comfortably.

Gaffney trying to get back to full guard but Moo takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Moo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gaffney turns into him and now he's in Moo's guard.
Moo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gaffney can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gaffney stands and throws Moo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gaffney has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Moo! Gaffney lands a couple of good shots and Moo has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Oooh a big shot gets through from Gaffney. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Moo looking to pass the guard. Moo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gaffney works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Moo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gaffney manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Moo has Gaffney in his guard. Gaffney loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gaffney being controlled here momentarily. Gaffney has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gaffney looking to pass the guard. Gaffney scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Moo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gaffney trying to control but Moo is working from the bottom. Moo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gaffney trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Moo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Moo pulls Gaffney in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gaffney looks to land a left hand but Moo moved out of range nicely. Gaffney keeps the fight on the outside. Nice takedown defense from Moo. No joy for Gaffney on that attempt. Moo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Moo is looking for a kimura but Gaffney is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moo to get the leverage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gaffney is looking for a sweep. Moo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Moo wants to work for an arm triangle but Gaffney is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Moo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mikey Moo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hamish Gaffney is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Moo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gaffney is just riding it out for now. Moo eventually gives up the hold.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Hamish Gaffney. Well Gaffney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
