Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Bryan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Rothko ! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rothko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rothko tries to clinch but fails miserably and Bryan counters with a nice double leg into guard. Bryan postures up and lands a big shot to Rothko 's brow. Bryan preventing the sweep. Bryan controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bryan tries to free his leg and advance position but Rothko is retaining full guard. Bryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Rothko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rothko seems keen to control Bryan's posture. Bryan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rothko swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rothko fails with a takedown attempt. Bryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rothko shoots in for a double leg but Bryan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Bryan feinted with a counter takedown. Daniel Bryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter Rothko . No luck for Rothko with that takedown attempt. Bryan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bryan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bryan is putting a hurting on Rothko here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rothko tries to bench press Bryan off him but Bryan keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bryan in side control, just content to control the action for now. Bryan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rothko tries to buck Bryan off but Bryan is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rothko is trying to stand and escape here. He's got onto all fours but that's just let Bryan take his back! Uh oh - Bryan has got a rear naked choke here! Rothko is forced to tap! It's all over! One monent is all it takes in this sport!
