Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxwell Rubin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Allen has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maxwell Rubin!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen misses with a two punch combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Rubin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Allen pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A bit of stalling here from Rubin.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rubin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Allen manages to avoid it.

Allen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Allen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rubins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Allen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rubin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Allen.
Allen takes a swing at Rubin's ribcage but misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Allen connects with a body shot that sends Rubin's belly button to the back.

Rubin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Rubin is still on wobbly legs! Can Allen finish him?

Allen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Allen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Allen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Allen wants it to stay on the feet.
Mike Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxwell Rubin.
Allen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rubins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rubin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Allen lands a big right hand that sends Rubin crashing to the mat! Allen stays standing though and waves Rubin back to his feet!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rubin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Allen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rubin scrambles back to his feet.

Allen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Allen.

Allen throws a hook but Rubin blocks it.

Allen bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rubin's head.

Allen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rubin can do to turn this around?
Rubin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rubin there as he acknowledges the shot.

Allen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rubin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Allen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Allen is looking to improve his position but Rubin isn't that keen on the idea.
Rubin sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Allen will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Allen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Allen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rubin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Allen.
Rubin wants to counter the offense by Allen and move into the clinch position.
Rubin is looking to clinch.
Allen looks to score with a jab to the body but Rubin is just out of range.
Rubin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Allen swivels and escapes.
It looked like Allen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Rubin shoots in and bounces Allen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Allen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rubin manages to get himself to full guard.

Rubin is looking for a triangle but Allen pushes his legs off easily.

Rubin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Allen has his hands clasped together but Rubin extends and breaks Allen's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rubin.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Maxwell Rubin!
Maxwell Rubin very nearly forgot to thank KAISER Nutrition (160!/220$) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
