Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Chick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Harold Shipman! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shipman sizes up Chick with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. We've been informed that Shipman has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Shipman looks to land a right hand but Chick moved out of range. Chick pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shipman is out of range and Chick settles back down. Shipman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shipman tries to score with a low kick but Chick moves his leg out of the way. Harold Shipman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chick looks to land a body kick but Shipman moved away. We've been told by Chick's head coaches at Spetznaz Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Shipman with a body punch. A glancing blow. Good shot there by Shipman. Chick gets cracked there but stands up to it.
It looks like Andy Chick has been cut. Chick bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Nice body punch from Shipman. Chick scores with the left hand. Shipman knows he should have avoided that one. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chick throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shipman. Chick throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Chick thuds his right hand into Shipman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Shipman moves away from the strike by Chick. Chick scores with a head kick. Shipman tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Harold Shipman has been cut. Crack! A monster head kick from Shipman and Chick falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Shipman!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Harold Shipman! Harold Shipman got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
