PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Greg Roche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Loyd Maywacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Greg Roche!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Loyd Maywacker!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Roche. Maywacker does a little dance to reset his feet.

Roche has closed the distance and engaged Maywacker in a clinch.

Maywacker tightens his grip and picks Roche up, before dumping him to the ground. Roche manages to land in guard.
Maywacker wants to control from the top but Roche keeps moving.
Maywacker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Roche really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maywacker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Roche haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Maywacker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Maywacker wants to control from the top but Roche keeps moving.
Roche on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roche tries to get out of the position.
Maywacker postures up in Roche's guard and throws a big left but Roche blocks it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Roche is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Maywacker's half guard.
Roche knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maywacker on the ground.

The fighters are battling for position here. Maywacker manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Roche throws a good cross that connects.

Roche shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Maywacker is trying to defend but Roche finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maywacker moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Greg Roche will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Maywacker tries to sprawl but Roche drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Maywacker wants to control but Roche is keeping busy.
Roche thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maywacker's head.
Maywacker makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maywacker.
Greg Roche overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Maywacker manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Maywacker wants the takedown. Roche is fighting it off but Maywacker persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Roche's guard against the cage.

Maywacker lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maywacker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Roche trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Roche wants to stand and escape but Maywacker is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

You can see the frustration on Roche's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Maywacker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Roche is not in a great position here, taking some shots.


Roche is rocked!
Maywacker is chipping away with strikes.
Oh Roche is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big shot lands for Maywacker! That's hurt Roche! Will he recover? Maywacker fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Loyd Maywacker!
A relieved looking Loyd Maywacker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
