Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Arnoldo Rojas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruben Alcantara! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alcantara misses with an uppercut. Rojas saw that one coming. Alcantara shoots in and bounces Rojas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Rojas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Alcantara pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rojas is keeping the position for now. Alcantara drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rojas dives on top into guard.
Alcantara kicks Rojas off and gets to his feet. Alcantara tries for a takedown but Rojas circles away easily and Rojas counters with a left and a right that stings Alcantara. Alcantara shoots in for a double leg but Rojas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas looks for a takedown but Alcantara sprawls well. Alcantara swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Alcantara moves to clinch but Rojas breaks away and Rojas counters with a one-two to the body. Rojas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Arnoldo Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruben Alcantara. Alcantara closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alcantara trying to mount his opponent but Rojas defends it. Rojas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Alcantara is looking for a kimura here.

Alcantara thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rojas's head. Alcantara trying to control the action but Rojas is working from the bottom.

Alcantara is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Alcantara is looking for a kimura but Rojas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Alcantara to get the leverage. Alcantara is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rojas is just riding it out for now. Alcantara eventually gives up the hold. Alcantara is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rojas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alcantara.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rojas is defending against the submission attempts here by Alcantara.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alcantara is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rojas wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ruben Alcantara dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rojas leaves Alcantara with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. As Alcantara looks to move away, Rojas throws a big counter combo bu Alcantara just gets out of the way. Alcantara shoots in and drives through. Rojas sprawls well. It looked like Rojas was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Ruben Alcantara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alcantara tries for a takedown but Rojas circles away easily and Rojas counters with a straight right hand. Arnoldo Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruben Alcantara. Alcantara with a lazy takedown attempt and Rojas counters with a left and a right that stings Alcantara. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alcantara looks for a takedown but Rojas sprawls well.

Arnoldo Rojas is winning the standup battle so far. Alcantara shoots in but Rojas avoids the takedown attempt easily. Alcantara drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rojas regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alcantara is looking to advance position but Rojas won't allow it. Alcantara passes the guard and advances to mount! Alcantara scoring with strikes but Rojas is staying in there. BOOM! Alcantara connects with a massive shot to the dome!
It looks like Arnoldo Rojas has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Rojas is in all sorts of trouble here.
Alcantara has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Alcantara with a couple of short strikes.

Arnoldo Rojas's cut is getting worse. Alcantara lands a big shot to the head and Rojas winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
